Mind-Body Wellness Program

Description: The mind-body wellness program will be offered to a maximum of 8 first and second year medical students. The group will meet for 2 hours once a week for 8 weeks with 1-2 faculty members who will facilitate the sessions. The students will be presented with the didactic background and research on a number of mind-body approaches in a small group context. The students will learn the techniques, practice them and discuss their experiences with members of the small group. Students will have an opportunity not only for individual attention and instruction, but also for sharing what they are learning about mind-body medicine and about themselves.

Instructions for Participating: If you are interested in being selected for this extracurricular activity, please fill out the attached form indicating your interest and reason you should be selected, and send it by email to Susan Gerik, M.D., sgerik@utmb.edu. Students will be notified if they have been selected shortly thereafter. Feel free to contact Dr. Gerik directly if you have any questions.
