The NIH and NCCAM are jointly sponsoring educational grants to foster the development of curriculum in CAM. The University of Texas Medical Branch, with Dr. Victor S. Sierpina, as principle investigator, were recently awarded a 5- year grant for $1.5 million for their project entitled: "Evidence-based Curriculum in Alternative Therapies."

This project will encourage in health care providers a critical analysis of therapies widely used by the public, and produce a well designed, closely evaluated, longitudinal model for CAM education that can be used nationwide. In addition to traditional instructional techniques, it will use web-based cases, distance learning, teletechnology, and the internet for distribution of curriculum. It will be suitable in health professional training settings and in continuing education programs for practicing clinicians.

The UTMB grant proposal is available below for review.
