Mission:

The purpose is to bring together people from all areas of healthcare into an interdisciplinary forum that discusses scientific articles related to alternative and integrative care.

Format:

Using an evidence-based approach, the articles are examined for issues of methodology, experimental design, statistical analysis, and general clarity and validity. We seek articles that give an overview of the modality under study as well as presenting evidence-based evaluation of that therapy.

The second half of the 2 hour journal club is devoted to an experiential component in which an alternative practitioner demonstrates the methodology being discussed.

The Alternative and Integrative Therapies Journal Club has been meeting monthly since January, 1998.

Members and attendees:

Any UTMB student, staff, or faculty is invited and we are pleased to have several members from off campus and from other institutions of learning as well. We usually have 20-30 members at each session.

Location:

All Jornal Clubs are held at the China Island on 61st Street in Galveston.

Sponsorship:

Food and beverages are provided by the generosity of our sponsors.

Purpose of this site:

  • To list previous journal club articles
  • To announce future and planned articles
  • To announce the location and time of the upcoming journal club,
generally the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM
